Why are we getting it?
It’s likely a combination of the moist environment (breeding ground for bacteria) created inside the mask along with the friction of the actual mask against our skin.
Here are 6 tips to help keep your skin clear
1.💦 WASH YOUR MASK! Do you leave it in your purse or inside your car between uses? This is a big no-no. If you are using a reusable mask, you must wash it often. At least every other day. Avoid using harsh detergents and fabric softener as these can further irritate your skin. We love to use white vinegar for its antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties! DO NOT reuse disposable masks.
2. 👉🏼 Choose your mask carefully! With so many different stylish masks on the market, it’s difficult to pick which one is safest and most practical to use. Try to use soft, cotton masks (if opting for a reusable mask) as these will reduce friction and irritation.
3. 💄 Avoid heavy makeup! Skip the heavy foundation. Wearing too many products will cause a build-up and may clog your pores, only worsening the condition of your skin.
4. ✨ Double Cleanse. Be sure that you are using a natural cleansing oil first to breakdown dirt, gimme and build up (We have an amazing oil cleanser!) Follow up with a gentle foaming cleansing to clean the skin. Check out our Balance Oil Cleaner here.
5. 💧Tone & Refresh. Mist your face with a toner before putting your mask on and throughout the day. Look for one that has witch hazel and avoid those that contain alcohol as it can be very drying! We highly recommend using our Refresh Facial Mist.
6.🌿 Moisturize! Use a lightweight moisturizer that repairs and protects and nourishes the epidermis (top layer of skin). Our Radiance Face Serum is full of antioxidants and provides so much nourishment for the skin!
In addition, exfoliating 2x a week will also help remove that top layer of dead skin that contributes to acne breakouts.
